Meet Erika

Hello, I'm Erika, the owner of What the Pup!

I have loved dogs my whole life and they have been a part of it ever since I can remember. So it didn't take me long to realize that cosmetology school wasn't right for me. In 2013, I started working for a dog facility as a kennel attendant and daycare staff, and turned my focus to becoming a veterinary technician. A while after, I got the chance to become a bather and groomer's assistant. I was able to express my creativity through grooming and dive deeper into the training aspect in grooming. I found myself at home in the grooming world and became a groomer in 2015, and the rest is history.

What the Pup was started with the aspiration of a calm and comfortable environment where I can form stronger connections with the pups I groom while providing customized yet beautiful haircuts that fit their everyday lifestyle. My clients love my attention to detail and my methods of creating a custom style for each pup. The right style for your pup can make your pup look younger, healthier, and happier!

I have always been focused on self-improvement and personal growth which spurs me to show up better for myself, my business, and my clients. I attend seminars and trade shows to keep on top of the latest products and handling techniques, and make sure each groom is specially tailored to your pup's needs using high quality products from start to finish. The overall health, well-being and comfort of your dog is of utmost importance to me, which is why I am a American Kennel Club Certified S.A.F.E groomer. Each session is kept as calm and as pleasant as possible just like I do for my own. I’ve seen how much more calm and happy a personalized grooming session can make a pup and I hope that you do too!

Outside of grooming, I spend my days wrangling the Clark household with my husband, Brian. I have a five year old daughter and a one year old son. We share our home with Misha, our six year old Rottweiler, and Jax, my Schnauzer. At fourteen years old, Jax is more than just a dog, he is a little piece of my soul that wanders around our home, alerting us to any “potential dangers” whether that is a stranger at the door or a creaking floorboard. Jax has been there for some major milestones in my life and has played a huge part in me becoming a groomer so it’s only fitting that he is the face of What the Pup.

If you’re ready to book your first appointment, head on over to the Services page. I can’t wait to meet you and your pup!
